While you could consider this to be more on the pop end of the drum'n'bass spectrum, I wouldn't necessarily say that's a bad thing. Stardust is, well, Stardust, and the track feels mostly like a fairly solid DnB remix of "Music Sounds Better With You." At moments, the new elements feel a bit disjointed, as if matching the beat was the prime concern. I think it's the fact that the original is a really upbeat and happy tune, and the remix introduces melancholy elements with some cold, techy drum'n'bass that don't quite fit with the disco-house original. On the flipside, you have the reason to keep this record beyond it's first few plays. While the a-side could have worked to transition you from house to dnb in a few sets, the flip is straight drum'n'bass throughout. Again with the somber tone, but this time it's due to the sample of Lisa May's original vocals included in this remix. Her vocals kick in a lot sooner than the original 1995 track, and her voice is pitched up, but it sounds natural. Where the original drum'n'bass track was definitely a product of the mid-1990s, the reworked vocals fit snugly into the more current-day mainstream big beats and Reese bass. Oddly, there's an element of this new remix that seems inspired from Orbital's "Halcyon", hiding throughout the track and it's the last thing you hear as the track fades out. All-in-all, "Wishing On A Star" is reason to grab this, with "Music Sounds Better" as a bonus piece.
