Here is an overview of all the extras found on this Domino remastered / extended 2 CD release of Calenture:On Disc 1 (Tracks 13 - 17) are all the B sides from the singles taken off the LP (both the 7" and 12") To be honest these are not the best Triffids flip sides going around, but they are decent enough.On Disc 2 (Tracks 1 - 12) are a collection of rehearsal & studio demos. For Triffids fans who feel this LP is a little over-produced (like me) this provides an insight into how it might have sounded if it was recorded in a wool shed and not given the Gil Norton polish.This is evident in the rehearsal versions of Bury Me Deep in Love & Vagabond Holes. The demos for Blinder by the Hour, Hometown Farewell Kiss and Kelly's Blues are also particularly enjoyable alternative versions of well loved tunes and Trick of the Light has effective backing vocals that are sweeter and slightly less obvious on the LP version. The stand out extras are the demos for 2 songs that didn't make the final cut for the LP - Burned & There Must Be a Curse on Me. Burned is a particularly tasty rarity and how it didn't make it onto the LP or even as a B side is a complete mystery to me. Overall these demos are very good quality recordings and any Triffids fanatic will want to own them.This reissue provides a 24 bit remaster of the original album and a well presented 24 page booklet including lyrics, photos and extracts from David McComb's notebooks.
