Nilador
As an admirer of R.E.M.'s work, I feel rather disappointed Michael Stipe and Co. agreed on a group of celebrities literally scrapped together for this occasion, delivering such a painfully fake mirror image to an otherwise beautiful song - in this case, it's a reflection that puts you literally to sleep halfway down its pathetic (and I dare say, hypocritical) carbon copy yawn. Maybe the original group's intentions were in the right place considering the impact 'Everybody Hurts' might have had in this context - still the very phrase is more of a contra-effect cliché than sincere act of empathy... and like Quietus already expressed concern, one thing Haitians don't need at the moment is this kind of patronizing by pop-stars who very probably don't even bother with earthquake chaos. Can we help so many people being devastated by the prospects of nature? Maybe - if we donate. However, Haiti needs more than just donations from individuals across the globe. The country is ripe with violence, death and corruption for years, now fully blown out of all proportion - one thing celebrities understand in the same sense Miss South Carolina addresses the issue of maps. The way 'everybody' truly 'hurts' in this song is a travesty they all sound so desperately bored - and boring.
