I used to own a 12" copy of this well before the late nineties - It was around 1988, and I picked it up from a UK dealer who dealt a lot in cut-outs and bought a lot of 12"s and LPs over from the US. So even if it didn't come out in parallel with the 1980 7" single release, I can say for certain that it was around well before the nineties. And I would bet any money that it wasn't a bootleg - the dance music / rare groove bootleg scene then was rough and ready. White labels / plain looking covers tended to be used, and no real attempt to 'forge' an original label's release and pass counterfeit goods off as being original (all before Photoshopping was as common as it is these days). There is most definitely a more recent repressing that used this label, but I'm sure that it's based on artwork from an original 12" - whenever in the early 1980s that was released.

I live in Chicago and just found a copy of this 12" in a Chicago DJ collection that contained nothing but 70s and 80s records. The deadwax of this 12" has Diskwerks stamped in it, just like other 12"s on the MIR label like Coffee. It also has the signature of the mastering engineer, Ron Lewter, inscribed "Ron" in the deadwax right next to the Diskwerks stamp. The original LP from 1980 lists "Mastered at Diskwerks by Ron Lewter" right on the back cover. I think these facts should make you rethink your theories. If we know the original mastering engineer made the stampers for this 12", then we can be damn sure it's not a bootleg. As for when it was first pressed, I don't think Diskwerks was in business for very long. Type "Diskwerks" into discogs and the latest legitmate US release you will find is from 1983. I'd say there are very good odds this was first pressed around the time of the original album release.

I also have a copy with DISCWERKS stamps on both sides, with "Ron" signature next to it on A-side. Label looks and feels definitely like an early 80's pressing if not from year 1980. My copy was bought from Chicago seller.

I've got a 12 of body fusion . It is definitely not a bootleg. I bought it back in 1990. I've checked it over n over. There has been a couple for sale in the states over last ten years.

Update April 2012:- Body Fusion 12" has been reissued for the second timeI've always been tempted to buy this 12" until someone advised it's not an original 1980 but a late 90's pressing. If it is a repress, it's a good one. On closer inspection the capitalization of the letters is not consistent with other original 1st press MIR releases and could be a little too modern for a record that's supposed to be over 30 years old. MIR releases always have a secondary cat# which seems to be missing on this 12". Also the Cat# & credits are normally on the right of the record. I'm sure when we revived 'Body Fusion' back in the late 80's early 90's there was only the 7" and LP Upward Bound, never a 'Body Fusion' 12"....Brilliant tune and even for a repress it's too good to pass up
