This track was a real victim of the 'scene' that is electronic dance music now a days. New Kicks, the original mix, was played back in 2003 by John Digweed and was then used extremely often from that point on through the end of 2004 by Digweed up until 2005 when the more electro sound became prevelant. It was then, during electro's revival so to speak that New Kicks was released, after of course being finally signed after over a year of being produced. And the B-side remix shows the electro influence of the current trend in dance. The original mix is one of the best 'progressive house' tracks in my opinion, ever produced. I think it would have been more appreciated had the climate for these types of tracks been more favorable at the time of its release.

Original mix is deep yet pounding and uplifting progressive house track with techy bass line, floating melodies and a mind bending break down. Production, sounds, structure and everything else in this track is pure quality and really shows what progressive house is all about. These guys have created not only a track but a whole musical atmosphere - New Kicks is the state of the mind. The best track of 2005.
