This record has a weird history and seems to show up in the most random places in the Midwest even though Pete Jon’s website claims this is a /500 press (it’s still available there for a $15 minimum donation actually). The album was created through a kickstarter that raised almost $6500 dollars, and somehow the albums ended up EVERYWHERE. We’ve found them at record stores, record shows, antique malls, and until a couple years ago SEVERAL Goodwills, Salvation Armies, and VOA thrift stores - I don’t think any were ever sealed, because not a single one we’ve found has been in shrink, but none seem to have ever been removed from their sleeve either. There’s gotta be an interesting story behind how all those albums ended up getting donated and distributed throughout Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, because the music itself isn’t bad at all in a neo-folk avant-garde vaguely pretentious sort of way. The versions on the album are even recorded on analog equipment in stripped-down arrangements that are different than the digital version in order to fully embrace the vinyl medium (I suppose). If you see it around, it’s worth picking up just to be a part of a weird relic of the 2010s vinyl revival.
