Factor-Y has all the hallmarks of a M.I.K.E. track as expected, but you can also hear the ideas of Yves.It's a much more spacious (empty feeling) track for a start, and there are those quirky sounds so typical of Deruyter.The main melody is only used once (around halfway through), and it's yet another sublime one from Mike.Not the most dancefloor friendly of tunes overall, but the main section is definitely worth it (hey, you've got lots of non-melodic sections to beatmix with).On the b-side is “Bass Mekaniks”.It starts off very minimal (kinda Tech House), with a nice breakbeat underneath. Soon a sonar bleep comes in, followed by a swift breakdown (with a lethal hi-hat structure & menacing bassline placed on top!).But it goes full Trance once the main breakdown kicks in. It’s a decent effort, a driving kinda track to fit in after you played a peak time tune and want to calm it down a bit.
