living in the UK don't get much access to these compilations but thanks the the other reviewer i managed to grab a copy and is worth it alone for "Fire" "Needles" and loving the artwork on these CD's!

A very atypical-looking compilation by FM Records in the Groovy Sound series, and the second one to be tied with blatant product endorsement (the first one was Groovy Sound 2...seriously, what was up with that?). The booklet's internal page is basically an endorsement of the "Hawaiian Tropic" sun lotion product line. Still, the artwork on the box and on the CD itself is one of the best to appear in the Groovy Sound series, and some might consider collecting it just for this. Now, as far as the track selection goes, there certainly are some interesting inclusions which won't disappoint who expected a solid Euro Dance compilation: names like Scooter, Whigfield, Fun Factory, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, JT Company and even Blossom (Bluemchen) make their appearance, however some inclusions (John Alford? Seriously?) really leave one wondering what were they thinking. Overall, the compilation is pleasant but not exceptional. However, keeping up with the good tradition by FM Records & Jeronimo Groovy to include some rare tracks in the mix, you will find some rare gems like "Fire" by Needles (5) (at the time of writing, this is the only compilation where this track appears), Trip To Paradise by Ohm (4) and Na Na Hey by DJ Chroma, both of which only appear in a handful of compilations. Maybe you'll want to keep that fact in mind the next time you spot a weird CD with "Hawaiian Tropic" references ;-)

Agreed with the reviewer above, i will only add that also in other compilations from F.M. Records we had the element of advertising like the Groovy Sound 2 with the Certs breath mints logo in the front cover of the lp. In fact, if you didn't turn the record around in order to see the tracklist, you couldn't find out about the music style of this compilation since the only thing you could see was a beautiful face of a woman and a package of mints! Ahhhhh....innocent days....Also my surprise when i first played the side A, was that instead of hearing H.P. Baxxter shouting Party people, the sky has changed...., i heard the advertising logo from Certs. I loughed so much.Anyway, in my 15's back then, i didn't care about the advertisements. All i cared about was the music. So as the previous reviewer wrote: don't rush to misjudge a compilation. Keep in mind that you will be surprised of the tracklist. The best part of these compilations was indeed the rare tracks that weren't played frequently in Jeronimo Groovy. Enjoy these compilations. They are our legacy and our glorious past.
