The release date for this first UK compilation was December 1969After the boys had left Motown in a cloud of dust and accusations re money and rights and had relaunched T.Neck via Columbia Inc (CBS UK on their Epic brand). It was as if they were persona non grata re their at least motown years with Holland-Dozier-Holland!UK-EMI had clout and could market their held Motown masters as they saw fit, so to appease Motown but also stay neutral this compilation was UK released on UK Regal's and USA Capitol's Starline brand. Nice touch to get in the Tamla Motown logo on the sleeve, Not to mention the royalties and fees going to the USA!Problem is this mega talented family did the "rounds" a bit with producers and labels alike RCA-Victor, Atlantic, Wand, United Artists, T. Neck 1 Motown, T.Neck 2, Warner Brothers, and each label establishing great classic tracks and world class hits, each label "cocking a snoop" at the others when they sored or had the Boys with them.A true "fans" retrospective needs to come out taking the best from each of the master tape owners, BMG, WB-Atlantic, Sony Music and UMG and share the proceeds! The celebration is of the boys and their music and songs not who owned and put what out!!
