Loan’s first album includes 5 tracks featuring MC’s from the Dakar (Senegal) hip hop scene, but also collaborations with artists from the electronic music scene.Grigri Breakers is a key step in this activist’s career; through chance meetings and travels she has built a hybrid and high demanding sound. Her music is composed of fiercely subtle breaks and dubstep colored deep bass, along with influences of wild break beats and deviant hip hop. The highpoint of Loan’s approach set during the recording of 5 tracks in Dakar (Senegal) between 2003 and 2004.She had left for a trip to Senegal at the time, from which she came back with amazing tracks out of the best of the local hip hop scene: Da brains, Taf’Taf (Noni None), Black G (Raktaksquad), Tafa (Sikki Sakka) but also Nono’s singular voice.Sharing, experience of emotions and exchange: these artists have overcome their hesitance and have given her the necessary confidence to work with zest on these unusual sounds.A few artists from the French electronic music favourites have also take part of the album: Rimshot (interlope), Pushy!, Monsieur Greg et Nice.
