"Music On Vinyl" really delivered on this one. I listened to this double cd a LOT during the 90's. I'd been a JT fan since I was a little kid and my sister would play his early records. I'm convinced these are the very best versions of these classic songs that have been recorded. This is quite a special band that he put together; the core rhythm section of L.A. studio legends Carlos Vega (drums), Jimmy Johnson (bass), David Landou (electric guitar) and Don Grolnick so subtly surge and fall back as the dynamics of each tune require. The quartet of background singers are just mellow enough to back and enhance a singer like Taylor. Just listen to "Shower The People" to hear what they can do (and to hear the awesome Arnold McCuller step out on his own at the end!). Do yourself a favor, and go find a VHS copy of James Taylor (2) - Squibnocket to see this phenomenal band rehearse these songs and jell together at a refurbished barn in Martha's Vineyard before they went on the road to record this album. In any case. if you have this CD, you already know how good this is. So if you are sitting on the fence about buying this vinyl, which wasn't exactly cheap, think no more about it - DO IT! The audio was apparently remastered and all the small nuances of each song come through nice and well-balanced. Very refreshing sound of, what I consider to be, an absolute must-have classic by the mellow-master, James Taylor.
