The 2nd record (German edition) is mastered from a digital vinyl rip of the original pressing.
Skyway
I also have both original pressings, German & US, and I can assure you these are needledrops. I think that anyone that has had any previous experience on the matter would easily be able to discern this after listening. This really is horrible and not worth the plastic it was pressed on. That may sound harsh, but true to my ears!
Marilore
Yes - this is very amateur mastering and I'm not happy to own it...
Nea
That's exactly what I wrote in the first place. But yeah, you are right.
Adrietius
I forgot about replying to you but since I got myself the German Steamhammer pressing of the album, it actually sounds much better than the Wax Maniax pressing. It sounds like the label was unable to get the master tape and had to source an LP as its master, which was done the same way with Convulse's World Without God by Relapse Records.
WUNDERKIND
I don't think you understood my post. It's not about the quality of the recordings themselves, but the source used for the German version in this reissue. I have an original German pressing and it sounds awesome.

Yes, my ears. When the needle hits the run-in groove everything is nice and quiet. Once the first track starts, you can hear the crackling and pops from the original record this was mastered from, all through the entire album. It is VERY obvious when you listen to the vinyl, especially with headphones. The sound quality is also very bad (I have an original first press to compare this to.)Trust me, I am 100% certain about this.

Do you have any source that eludes to your findings?
