I don't know anything of the source material. I found this in a record shop in Chicago with an inventory of classic rock, punk and the usual suspects of Christmas music and show tunes. There was a small 99 cent section of stuff they must not have been sure how to classify in two single crates. The Pan American remix initially caught my eye. It traverses a dubby and quiet path with its muted heart beat pulsing underneath more live-sounding instrumentation (piano lines, solitary snare). What caught my ear was the Bruce Gilbert remix which is a minimal electro-acoustic workout in a sub-aquatic landscape. Its hypnotic and lovely despite its lonely, isolated vibe.
