This production was performed in Berlin on 9th November 1989 - the day the Berlin Wall came down. When the former "Karl-Marx-Stadt" officially returned ti its old Name "Chemnitz" on 7th October 1990, a further concert was staged there as part of the city's celebrations. Many other performances of MESSIAS-VARIATIONEN were met with critical acclaim and enthusiasm.
