Be aware: this is not some "greatest hits" compilation but a "live in concert" recording, recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in 1984, complete with the compere's introductions and what sounds like a very large and lively crowd. The band are (of course) super tight and the man himself is on good form. The set list is a good selection of hits and crowd-pleasers and the band work hard laying down the grooves. This sounds like a fairly decent mixing desk recording with some pretty clean sound for its age. If all you want is a collection of greatest hits, there are plenty of cheap compilations that cover most bases. Whilst I wouldn't describe this as an essential addition to any James Brown fan's collection, it is an enjoyable and atmospheric live recording that are you still likely to come back to from time to time. As it seems to be generally available for peanuts, you can't complain really!
