Damand
An LP widely regarded as one of the gems of the Danish scene. Starting off with the 45 second accoustic "Banjocul", one would think that they had been duped if they thought they were buying a heavy prog/psych record. Then, those fears are allayed as the six-plus minutes that is the monster track "Mountain Music Part 1" unfolds before our ears. This track has it all, wonderful tempo, beautiful imagery in the lyrics, culminating is some searing psych guitar all over that I can't get enough of. The rest of the LP more or less holds up to that high standard the rest of the way. Not a duff track on it to be honest. Cy Nicklin's vocals are excellent, the musicianship and compositional skills are stellar for the genre, and you can top it off with a wonderfully psychedelic gatefold cover. There was something very good in the Copenhagen water back then.
