Both of mine are black vinyl :D

I think this release sounds pretty good all things considered.

I had this bootleg copy for about a week. The guy who sold it to me used the original cover art for the picture, so I thought I was getting a legit reissue until I looked up the catalog number. I kept an open mind and decided to give it a listen when I received it. My first impression was that it wasnt bad just not how it should sound. I agree with others who have suggested that It was cut using the digital master. It seemed kind of sterile and at times it sounded like the levels were recorded hot, like on the verge of distortion. I was messing with the EQ alot to adjust the sound from song to song. Overall it just didnt sound like an accurate representation of the record on vinyl. When I got the original press about a week later, there was no question in my mind that the bootleg was getting returned. The original sounded clean and buttery the way a properly mastered vinyl record should be. Overall my advice to anyone who is thinking about picking up this bootleg would be, hold out for an original or the legit repress if you dont mind a picture disc. But if you have to pick it up until you find the original, I wouldn't pay more than $10.

Look at that wack ass cover rip-off. Horrible.

Just look at the official release cover vs this knock-off cover. It's a total hack job. They didn't even use the same font for "BLACKSTAR".
FailCrew
Listening to it now and seems fine throughout. The opening to Brown Skin Lady was a little distorted, but I'm on Thieves In The Night now and its not sounding so hot. Its not horrible, but I would probably stay away from this release.

Both of mine are clear vinyl, too. I also have a lot of ticks throughout the album, but no distortion. Sound quality sounds mp3-ish so I'm not really all that impressed with this release.

buyers? have you like the sound? is it an analogue press? sound is good when you compare with the original? thanx..
Cerar
Anyone else here have an issue with noise on side B? It is most noticeable during "Brown Skin Lady" and "Respiration" (unfortunate, since that's probably my favorite track on the album). The beat is fine throughout, but the vocal tracks seem to get pretty unbearably distorted...

Both of mine are clear vinyl
FLIDER
Same here. My Disc 1 is a clear vinyl with black marbling. Disc 2 is clear vinyl.
