Notes

The South Iceland Singers were founded in 1997 and are largely comprised of active musicians from South Iceland. Hilmar Orn Agnarsson, organist st Skalholt Church, has been conductor of the group since its foundation.

In summer 1999 the group performed a programme at the Summer Concerts in Skalholt under the title 'One thousand years of Icelandic church music'. This CD includes part of that program, which as its name suggests spans Iceland's musical tradition right from the adoption of Christianity in the year 1000 and up to the present day
