As you might imagine with a record coming from NUX and CHARNEL HOUSE, this is hardly subtle, passive music. It's all here, comin' at ya', in ya' face, noisy discordant muscly Rock Music with average Thrash vocals but the pace (and general style) falls somewhere between that style and the GODFLESH snarling meat-mangling slow pace, hanging in the air with unbelievable menace. I can't help but think of HUGH CORNWELL's early bellows when I hear such throat-wrenching growls of angry voice. Speed changes throughout continue to give the illusion that you are listening to Thrash at half speed. The overall sound has a chunky, nay, flabby sound, as if recorded live (professionally) in some dark cavernous subterranean club - you can almost picture them mashing away like Loa-Possessed crazies, twisting, gyrating, writhing along to the scolding noise of guitar, bass and drums. LEWD are a trio, and they sound as if they try to cover the fact from the listener. It's a thick, evil music, probably as influenced by BLACK SABBATH as any of the NAPALM DEATH ex's projects. Expect no mercy. It may not give your hearing GBH, but it certainly gives your auditory canal the equivalent of a gut-punch. Originally reviewed for Metamorphic Journeyman.
