This was the last edition of two formats for the SEB series, as with 187, it dropped the bonus disc seen from 174-186, and reverted from 18 radio edits, which had been part of the series since Delta joined way back on volume 64, to extended versions. I'm sure there was increasing demand for the extended versions, but the number of labels was increasing, maxing out with a ridiculous 10 labels for 13 songs on 194 and 195, due to both Time and Eurogrooves songs being on both compilations. On to the tracks...01 Let's Go Wild!: The official debut of SinclaireStyle, though it was credited in the liner notes on 184. Here Sinclaire continues with his typical production, though with the odd-sounding synths he started to use in his last few Delta songs (see "If You Ever Leave Me" on SEB 169). Otherwise this is a typical Niko song. I didn't really care for it at first, but it's grown on me. 7.5/1002 Nightshade (Newfield Remix): Another version of this appeared in DDR Universe. However, this is the first version of it I've heard since I refuse to play any DDR home versions since Konami of America mutilated DDR Extreme (but I digress). Not bad, though I'm not entirely sure this wouldn't be better suited for AkyrMusic. 7/1003 Tokyo STRIKE FORCE! (caps and exclamation point added by me): Three simple words: Hi. NRG. Attack. 6.5/1004 Adrenaline: Manuel has been absolutely on fire since 2006. He's definitely one of eurobeat's rising superstars. This was one of three songs by him that appear in Initial D Arcade Stage 5 (the others being Sun In The Rain and Gas Gas Gas, though Ready Steady Go is surprisingly absent). 10/1005 Another Passion: Begins with the sound of a needle being placed on a record, then goes into typical late Time sound. Still like it, though there's an overused chorus structure in it. 7/1006 Time To Say Goodbye: Aptly titled, since there hasn't been a new Brian Ice song on SEB since. Whether this was intentional or not, I don't know. Typical modern A.Beat-C sound. 6.5/1007 Round Round Round: Meh. 5/1008 Running Fire: I'm not really sure what to think of this. It has that typical modern A.Beat-C sound, but Tobias's voice is different from what I'm used to hearing (though I'm not a fan of Edguy, so I've only heard it through other Ace Warrior songs). Plus, this comes on the heels of the amazing White Love. 6/1009 Bang Bang Crashing of the Boom Boom: Longest. Title. Ever. Another typical Hi-NRG Attack song. 6.5/1010 In The Fire of Victory: Ace hasn't put out as much solo work since he became one of SCP's chief songwriters and Go 2's become popular. With songs like this, I wish he would. 8.5/1011 Love And Passion 2008: Elena Ferretti sang on the original Love And Passion in 1989, and here her voice sounds pretty much the same. This has the typical late Time sound, though it gives a slight nod to the original just before the vocals begin in the verses. Excellent. 9/1012 People Like Dancing: This sounds like a combination of A.Beat-C songs of the time and a trance-infused SCP song. Translation: almost not eurobeat. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it's a Mega NRG Man song as a bonus. 9.5/1013 Hey Hey: Sounds sort of like People Like Dancing, though cutesier. Sounds different than most Nuage songs. 7/1014 Paradise: Pass. 4/1015 Big Bad And Hot Love: My inner 12-year-old snickers at the title of this song. Other than that, it's a typical Avex-mand...er, rock-influenced Delta song. 7.5/1016 Rock & Roll: Typical BBB sound, but it has guitars. 8/1017 Rebel Yell: Yes, THAT Rebel Yell. Out of the two cover versions I've heard (the other being Scooter's, which sounds more like eurobeat than happy hardcore), this is better. This is probably influenced by Clara Moroni's rock projects. I've heard only one of Clara's rock songs (the one on her MySpace), but I can see why she's so popular in her home country. Amazing. 10/1018 I Love My Dog: Seriously, Avex? You chose to end this volume with this instead of Rebel Yell? 4/10Disc 1 total rating: 131.5/180, a little over 7/10Disc 2 has five "remixes" of older songs. The term is used pretty loosely, as almost all of them are re-edits with lots of tempo breaks, overdubs, samples, and other effects thrown in.01 Super Rider (originally from 184): The only thing this has over the original is that it has an actual ending. Some of the added samples are cool, and DJ Boss slightly changes the sabi in the second half of the song. Still, the original is better. 7/1002 Yes I Will (originally from 184): Out of all the 20 or so remixes produced by Avex-affiliated DJs on these bonus discs (176, 179, 183, 186), this is the ONLY song that is truly a remix (although the second half of Honmax's version of Looka Bomba was a remix). This is slower than the original and has a retro sound to it, much like the two standout Delta songs (Keep Fall In Love and Star Heart) on the otherwise awful SEB 198. This has a more electro-influenced, club-like sound than Keep Fall In Love and Star Heart, however. This gets a 10/10 just by default.03 Shanghai: The original version of Shanghai was probably rejected by Avex, as it never appeared on a volume of SEB. This is pretty long, but otherwise very good. In the middle, vocals from the songs "Gun Boy", "Kong", "Fireball", and "Black U.F.O." are added. 8/1004 Overdrive (originally from 182): A popular song, but I thought it was only decent. DJ Ken-Bow makes a few changes to it that I find favorable, especially the reverb at the end of the chorus. 9/1005 Yeah! (originally from 167): Derails what was was turning into a can't-miss disc. The tempo breaks really conflict with the uplifting feel of the song. It's mercifully short. 6.5/10Disc 2 rating: 40.5/50, about 8/10Total rating: 172/230, about 7.5/10
