Here we have two extremely limited tape releases (only 10 copies each) from the ultra-active Peruvian/Polish noise act Animal Machine. Presented in a quite simple but nice xeroxed layout showing circuit patterns (the only difference between the two being a slim sticker on the cover, containing the tape title and track info), dubbed on recycled tapes and carrying a profound and maybe prophetic title, the content of these tapes is anything but simplistic! Let’s start with tape #1, containing 13:29 min on side A and 15.51 min on side B. The style is clearly Animal Machine’s contemporary driftscapes / technological murder kind of harsh noise, mostly played extremely fast with many changes in sound and effects every few seconds. There is no pause or chance to breathe, this is pure hectic high speed sonic violence done with a huge variety of sounds that’s sure to please fans of experimental extremes and that surely doesn’t get boring. Speaking of tape #2, it makes perfect sense that its style follows the same line, keeping its predecessor’s concept, just that you get 29:17 / 33:16 min of it on this one! Also here, no space for boredom, this is super varied and fast noise with some rather calm and crunchy parts in between every now and again, which are maybe distantly influenced by HNW. But these moments are seldom, when you put this tape into your deck you have to expect a speedy journey. Now talking about both releases: As the artist himself would probably say, these recordings are quite “trippy”, you can dive into this flood of sound waves and easily get lost in it; an excellent experience! What I personally enjoy very much is that there’s usually different stuff coming from the left and right speakers, which adds something extra to the complexity of the music. And when the sounds begin to slow down a little you know you’ll be released into your reality once again… Conclusion: These tapes could well have been released in a bigger edition, the 10 available copies of each were gone very fast, understandably, and now you can only hope that someone will sell his copy for some reason. I surely won’t, but if you find a copy, be sure to get it because you won’t regret the investment. This is noise music done by a man with many years of experience that knows what he wants and what he’s doing. (VBP)
