First of all thank You for the Enhanced, Always Alive and Ferry Tayle himself for releasing this very much anticipated album as hard copy as well - after all the waiting. "The Wizard" definitely deserves it when thinking alone the amount of work and dedication put into it (4 years according to artist himself).About the album - as a big fan of melodic, uplifting trance it is not very often that one gets an album that really represents this style throughout the album. With "The Wizard" it is the case apart from intro, outro and ballad in between. The album shows great level of cohesion and stays true to its musical roots. There are no EDM, electro, bigroom or dubstep-experiments here. But on the other hand the almost blind following and repeating the established genre-rules marks the musical journey to be quite boring after all. The biggest negation I felt with the uninspired structure and the way too short build-up of the songs that truly own lots of potential. It feels like the album is kind of showcase or port folio of the artist that wants tell the DJ or promoter "this is what I can" - "are You interested to hear more?". I can't understand the need of editing each and every track to almost pointless radio edits. Where is the true core of trance - the long, travel-along journeys of melodies? "Flying Blue" is truly only masterpiece in the whole; lots of other great ideas are showcased like "Metamorphosis", "Trapeze" and "Rescue Me".There could have been so much more magic and different kinds of tricks involved here. For sure this is a must for all the fans of the genre, but in search of great dance music albums I can't really recommend this one. The structure is frustratingly edited and though sounding powerful the songs lack of forward-thinking innovation that the uplifting trance genre really needs at the moment.3/5
