Άνουβις
King Crimson fans, you should know that this album is an absolute cracker. For whatever reasons, I never got round to buying it at the time, probably because for some (nurse) insane reason I was put off by the presence of guest appearances by the likes of Fripp and Hammill.Crazy I know, as those two Prog Gods are indeed heroes of mine. But fear not, because 18 years down the line I have finally righted my wrongs, laying to rest my concern that the presence of a cover of Exiles was indicative of a musician living off former glories. As I owned all David Cross's previous albums, and having seen his band live many times, I should have known better; well I do now.As it happens, this version of Exiles is different enough from the Larks' Tongues original for it to be considered a separate entity. Now, as I don't have the time to rant and rave about the whole album in detail, I will just say that the presence of Cross, Fripp and Hammill on Tonk is stupendously brilliant, as you'd expect; what was I worried about, eh?You see, an old Proghead can still receive a surprise from time to time.
