"When guitarist Shawn Helsel, drummer Dave Stone and bassist / vocalist Paul Arnold joined forces to form AT WAR in 1983, the phenomena known as “war metal” was born. After two years of honing their trademark sound, June of 1985 saw the release of AT WAR’s first demo entitled “Eat Lead”. The demo was received with rabid fervor from fans and the metal press of the day, pushing the band into the spotlight of the new and quickly exploding speed/thrash metal movement. The instantaneous buzz earned AT WAR an appearance on the now legendary “Speed Metal Hell” compilation alongside fellow luminaries WHIPLASH and SAVAGE GRACE, soon followed by the release of the band’s debut album “Ordered to Kill” in 1986. Bolstered by the success of their debut album and subsequent national touring alongside such rising stars AGNOSTIC FRONT, POSSESSED and SLAYER, AT WAR were eager to follow up with another devastating slab of metal. The band booked recording time with producer Alex Perialas at Pyramid Sound (known for his work with ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, NUCLEAR ASSAULT etc…) to produce their 1988 follow-up album “Retaliatory Strike.” Another resounding success under their belts, At War’s place in the history of metal was solidified.Fast forward to 2006. All three original members having stayed close friends over the subsequent years, AT WAR never officially called it quits. With the resurgence of the thrash and speed metal movement and fan interest once again growing, the band felt the time was right to take care of unfinished business. Throughout 2007 and 2008, a series of triumphant U.S. shows and festival appearances in Europe and Mexico showed AT WAR at the top of their game and unphased by the passage of time or musical trends. AT WAR have once again entered Pyramid Sound, this time teaming up with New York’s Heavy Artillery Records for the release of their storming third studio album “Infidel”. Thawed from their cryogenic slumber and determined to put the brute force back in speed metal, AT WAR are back with their most brutal and uncompromising album to date!!"
