I've been listening to this album since it came out and I still love it. My favourite of all Baby Mammoth's albums. Skidding on all fours is class!

I have to admirt Baby Mammoth really add some nice bass in their tracks, their style will just rip you off and tear you into pieces especially their downtempo is much enjoyable and relaxing, i have to say that i enjoy Foxy Grandpa more than any other track in the One... Two Freak album, it's got some endless vibe tortue in it and makes me immagine about any outdoor activity that's enjoyable, superb stuff!!!

Although they have delivered two excellent albums on the respected Pork Recordings, Baby Mammoth really get going on the appropriately titled One...Two...Freak. The warmth of the outstanding ambient opener "Out of Kilter" defines the album in a good way, along with the fast and melodic ultra-light drum and bass of "Skidding on all Fours" that follows immediately afterwards. Every track is worth mentioning, despite the fact that there are up to fourteen of them. Take the chilled beats on "Basilica", which has a beautiful two minute outro. Or the downtempo groove "Additive", featuring some great electro layers waving through the middle part. "Sleep" starts dreamy, but then goes for ambient funk, and "For Dear Life" leaves you headnodding in your chair. The music gets in faster territory sometimes, like on "Warm Air Rising" that knows how to keep your attention with a lot of awesome synths and basslines. The aggressive beats of "Zen Butchers" provides some of Baby Mammoths harsher moments, but still has pleasing melody lines. The duo is at their best when it paves way for melancholy and moodiness, like in the mysterious "Luna Park" (with a few jazzy and cool guitars). "Wend Off" also does a wonderful job with its smart bassline and the smooth keys. My favourite, "Foxy Grandpa", seems to start off gross and funky, but quickly settles in an airy and heavenly environment with an amazing bass underneath. "Sound in Your Mouth" is pure ambient house and has some great twists for getting happier each time. This one dissolves in "Humdrum Doldrum" that leans on gorgeous synths that dive up and down. The last tracks are always special and "Level Freaks" is no difference. Especially the last three minutes are really worth it. You will be glad to have picked up this superb album.

Baby Mammoth continue their winning streak. Their third album, One… Two… Freak, has the fuller sound and more thought-out drum programming that marked their second, Bridging Two Worlds. But the music itself is more layered, too, adding a feeling of depth. “Additive,” for instance, is simple, but catchy. The tracks are better edited too; they end before their welcome is worn out. There’s a bit more moodiness as well – like the sustained tones on “Wend Off.” Plenty to be happy with here.
