Rollers from Abdun
One of two tremendous pop singles from ex-Martha & The Muffins keyboard player and future member of The Associates, Martha Ladly. The verses are fantastic, but the chorus is the selling point: sweeping and bright, full of 80s synth bounce and optimism. Really quite stellar. Peter Hook from New Order plays bass on both songs, and Peter Saville Associates did the typography. The b-side is an instrumental piece, sounds not unlike New Order with its emotional electronic palette and Hook bassline. Sadly, Martha didn't get to put out a full length solo album after this, her last single.
