“This performance was taped in 1963 and issued on Decca DL-7-10077; a 4-track reel-to-reel stereo tape was also available (ST-74-10077). For this release Varese Sarabande has remastered in a straight transfer from the Decca / MCA tapes. This has resulted in a sound more faithful to the original tapes than was previously technologically possible. On some playback systems, a slight tape hiss may be evident as this is a pre-Dolby recording. No “high cut” has been made, as this would have resulted in a corresponding loss of treble and transparency.”
