"Back 2 The Old Skool" is definitely the weaker side and it's really hard to see why the sides were pressed this way round (even though it's technically a double A). It's not an awful track but it's confused and just doesn't really go anywhere. Obviously a lot of people felt the same way because it got forgotten fairly quickly and, unlike "Takin' Me Higher", receives no attention whatsoever now.Flip the release over and you've suddenly got hardcore gold in the form of "Takin' Me Higher". The euphoria oozes from every part of the track; from the keyboard in the buildup, reminiscent of much earlier hardcore, to the strong lead melody on the drop. It puts a stupid grin on my face every time.Anyone who's still been following hardcore events over the last few years may have heard the 2009 update. It didn't change anything that made the track great, only brought it in line with modern production values. If you're reading this, Darren, please release the update!Brilliant release but only for the AA side.
