The Sphinx of Driz
I have collected 3 copies of this album that I thought were original/early pressings. Two of them match the photos on this listing and include the insert. These two have a more grey color on the photo strip with Jack and Meg on the front cover. These two pressings do NOT have S-48018 (side A) and S-48019 (side B) in the deadwax. The third copy has no insert, black instead of grey on the photo strip, and does have S-48018 and S-48019 in the deadwax. It appears there are a couple of different versions of this album on SFTRI from around 1999/2000. Both versions have the same track listing/red label/etc as far as I can tell. Anyone else discover this?

Actually...I'm losing it... the versions of mine that have the insert do not have the "S" or the 48019. They are identical to what you've listed: SFTRI - 577 - A and SFTRI - 577 - B. The one that is missing the insert has S-48018 on side A and S-48018 on side B. I couldn't edit my first reply, so just wanted to add this...

Yes, this is all quite odd. Just to clarify, the two copies I have that came with the insert have the 48018 (side a) and 48019 (side b), but not "S" in the matrix on either side. At least I can't see it. And now you have a version with a different matrix that also has the insert? geez...who knows what's an original pressing on this one? Does this one you're talking about have the same labels as what is listed as the original?

... as i know the version with S-48018 and S-48019 is the so called rainbow bootleg.i also have a version that is not listed here. Matrix / Runout (Runout Etchings Side A): SFTRI - 577 - A Matrix / Runout (Runout Etchings Side B): SFTRI - 577 - Bbut with the insert. ???

Hello , i have a version with the exact red SFTRI red label but with no code or letter in the matrix. (nothing in the matrix) . It also appears that the cover may be a little bit different between this version and mine ( that seems to share the same cover as the SFTRI repress, on black label, last entry of the list with date "unknown"). Indeed if you look closely at Jack white on the extreme right, his right arm is clearly cut in this version but entire and cleared in my cover ( as the SFRI repress). An other thing is the number 15A in the film roll ( on right at jack's feet), there is almost no space with the border of the cover but mine and the "repress" have almost one centimenter of space. Can somebody told me what to do, i don't know if it's a bootleg, a conterfeit, or a regular SFTRI variant...thank you ! I'll be happy to show the pictures i've taken.
