This album has been horrendously remastered. I compared the audio to other releases and this one disappoints. The cymbals are overly compressed and tinny, the bass is wrong, and the entire album is EQ'd wrong.

I take my Gap Band IV on BBR and here what the reissue credits read: "Digitally remastered by Kevin Reeves at Universal Mastering Studios, East. Additonal mastering by Wayne A. Dickson at BBR Mastering." On the mark! This guy — Wayne Dickson — is a disaster for all lovers of soul, funk and disco! Why the hell does he think he's a sound engineer while obviously he hasn't got the knowledge nor the skills for it!?! And why the powers that be at Cherry Red Records let him ruin the BBR reissues (that are mostly very well done in terms of liner notes, photos, bonus tracks, that is everything but the mastering when it's done by Wayne Dickson)? Actually, Wayne Dickson is the producer of all these excellent (apart from the mastering) reissues: why doesn't he stick to that?[keywords : mastering mistakes - mastering done wrong]

If it reads "digital remastering by Wayne A. DICKSON at BBR Mastering" in booklet, don't be surprised. He doesn't know what he is doing and has been spoiling a lot of CD reissues at BBR, including Aretha FRANKLIN, Tom BROWNE, ASHFORD AND SIMPSON, INSTANT FUNK, A TASTE OF HONEY, etc ...and now GAP BAND ! Damn !
