I am slightly puzzled about the low ratings this release has received. Of course the sound quality could have been better and there certainly is a downside to this release which finds its expression in the monotonous nature of the individual tracks. However, this record delivers some fresh and interesting approaches to breaks and some nice combinations of sounds. A1 starts with a creepy intro that creates a nice doomy feel and evolves into a fast-paced breakbeat track with an electro-ish theme. A2 is a heavier piece with some kind of industrial feel on the edge of electro punk. A3 can be regarded a follow-up to A2 due to the continued rhythm pattern and a similar sound structure which nevertheless is reduced in heaviness. The flip-side delivers some abstract-sounding tracks that make use of various weird experimental samples and bits of vocals. B1 is a rather funky track with an uplifting synth-melody and the same vocal samples from the 1984 movie 'Dune' that were used in Major Malfunction's track 'House Shield'. B2 is a turned in track that messes around with a few weird samples, however, does not manage to go anywhere. The same goes for B3 which is characterized by some distorted breaks and some chopped of vocals that lead through the entire track. Overall, the essence of this record is somewhere between cheap and interesting. Certainly not the finest moment in the shockwave history, however, still worth a listen.
