I have this original edition as well as the 2000 re-release, and it sounds like they cleaned the album up on the 2000 re-release. The original sounds like it has more vinyl artifacts... Some tracks sound grungier than others, but the whole album sounds maybe a little wider and more natural in its original version. If this is the case, the changes they made to the 2000 edition certainly helped it (since in the 13 odd years I've been listening to the re-release, I've never stopped and said: "that's a lot of hiss" like I do with the original), but I have to say I like it a tiny bit more with the noise and artifacts. Sometimes your ears can play tricks on you, however; so I would invite anyone curios to do an A/B comparison if they want more certainty. I'm listening with Audio-technica ATH-E70 IEMs.

This is a personal favourite. I would even go this far as to say that this album is the fundament of my music collection. The mixing is seamless and on point. The tracks fit together as if they were made for eachother. The stunning opener with it's boombastic sound, caried on into the next track grab you by the throat right away. After that Tiësto takes it back a notch, but keeping the energy. After L'announce des couleurs he picks up the pace again. This album is an absolute masterpiece within the trance genre. This is not your average kind of trance, this is deep, melancholic, emotive trance in its purest form. Highlights for me are sunday club, mac zimms, the voyager, viper 2, & qattara.

I've looked through all of my original Magik albums. In "Magik - Far From Earth," a promo for the original release of "Magik" is in place. The only instance where "Magik - First Flight" makes an appearance is a promo found in "Magik - A New Adventure." As A New Adventure was released in 1999, I believe this to have been a 1999 re-release.

The artwork shown is not the original artwork. The artwork of Magik "First Flight" was changed twice. The first change was the Magik logo. My guess is Black Hole didn't have permission to use the logo (they obviously took from the cardgame Magic "The Gathering"). The second change was the complete cd book (a few years later). They had to change it when the Magik series became too well known (outside of the Netherlands). The maker of the original artwork (Patrick Woodroffe) found out about it's existance and once again (only guessing here) Black Hole didn't have the proper permissions to use his artwork. Anyway, the original artwork features an elve on the front.

I have the very first version. The first change was indeed the Magik logo, but also the inside artwork and the back of the booklet changed. The inlay artwork is different as well. They change happend after "Story of the Fall" and "Far From Earth" were already released, as the artwork of those is in the booklet of "First Flight"Also the "Blackhole" logo is different.
