This song was originally scheduled to be a new dance craze called 'The Witch'. Fortunately, the theme was changed to a misogynistic song about a 'witch' with long black hair and a big black car....'I know what you're thinking, but you won't get far'. The music is energized rock/punk. A minor classic, in its own way.The Sonics recorded many cover versions of other hits. I still enjoy Little Richard's 'Keep A Knockin'' more than the Sonics' take, but it's a lively rock tune performed by some crazy white boys.
