Comment from www.normanrecords.comI don’t know a lot about this lady but apparently she’s been having all sorts of superlatives thrown around regarding her act so I guess it’s about time I got involved. What’s happening on this here CD is an album of incredibly slick, heavily vocal-led experimental pop with an almost Disney-esque feel in places, accompanied by sparse chamber neoclassical arrangements with violin, viola, cello, piano, glockenspiel and clarinet being the dominant instrumental textures at play over the course of the album, forming a lush but sparse, otherworldy accompaniment to the almost operatic crooning and nimble, ghostly harmonies. That said, ‘Bee’ has surprised me with a deftly layered passage of melodic instrumental electro-loops and clicky drum machine beats that ensures we never let ourselves get too comfortable in Seaming’s company. There’s an earthy, slightly neofolky feel in places which keeps bringing to mind Heidi Harris but the production is much grander and more cinematic, particularly effective in the Kate Bush meets Danny Elfman creep-pop of the sultry ‘Mermaid’. It’s a delicate but confident sound and these songs are consistently bold, sultry and impressive.I can add Seaming was singing for such famous bands as Mr. Scruff and Herbaliser
