Scintilla is the first in the "Word of the Day" musical project, where Lothar & Matthew take Dictionary.com's selection and make a song out of it. The concept is to create each song in a single day (not including minor mixing and tweaking later on in the process) to construct an album's worth of material in ten days. Each song derives its inspiration from the word. As a result, Scintilla represents Lothar & Matthew's most ambitious, diverse and exciting release to date. The album cannot be pigeonholed into a single subcategory of electronic music. Due to the nature of the recording, some of the material retains a rawness not usually found in the sterile realm of electronic music.
