Pepe Deluxé's third album won't let the listener off very easily. Created with an enormous amount of performers and self-styled instruments this album is about as far away from the debut album as possible, yet a completely logical follow-up for 2003's 'Beatitude'. The tracks are a mish-mash of styles, bouncing and twisting and more often than not ending a completely different way they started. It certainly takes a few listens to get into - I must admit I didn't care for it much first - but when you get into it, you're really blown away. It's rare to hear an album nowadays that completely throws away the rulebook and pop music conventions and does whatever the hell it feels like. This album sounds fresh, yet strangely vintage at the same time. A true modern classic.
