Excellent compilation of music in general, even excluding the history. I'd rank it very high on a list of most effective starting places for a beginner to the subject. For those curious, this wiki page gives a good overview of most the material on the album:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origins_of_rock_and_rollA few of the songs included are not the version considered formative in the evolution of rock and roll,'Roll Em' Pete' is a later version recorded on March 6, 1956'Chicken Shack Boogie' is actually the later, faster, rock & roll version, 'Chicken Shack', recorded in August, 1956.There are likely other errors as well. To me, this hasn't detracted from overall experience. My only real complaint would be the placement of Hank Williams', 'Move It On Over'. It was recorded almost 20 later than the things surrounding it on the album, which creates a somewhat jarring listening experience not only in recording quality, but also in style and volume. This is still a quality collection, and even when the versions included are not correct, they are still very good versions of the songs. Recommended.
