Alsalar
Swedish melodic rock project Adrenaline Rush made their debut in 2014 with this high energy self-titled album, which was produced by Eclipse mainman Erik Martensson. Fronted by the very easy on the eyes Tave Wanning (formerly a teen pop star), Adrenaline Rush puts a new spin on the Swedish melodic rock sound. Adrenaline Rush is very similar to the super-catchy, hook-laden melodic rock of H.E.A.T, Eclipse and Hardcore Superstar, only with poppy female vocals along the lines of Issa. These are extremely high-energy songs that are incredibly infectious and easy to sing along, and the musicianship is very high quality. The vocals, however, are a lot harder to get into. Wanning may have the perfect voice for dance pop, but against these rock songs it just sounds nasally and out of place. And it's not a voice that you get used to, either. You'll either love it or hate it. Unfortunately I'm in the latter camp, which is a real shame because otherwise these are some fantastic songs. If Martensson had sung them you'd think it was a new Eclipse disc. This is a tough one to rate. I love the songs but hate the vocals, so we'll go with three stars. I recommend sampling these tracks before buying. If you like the vocals, then by all means pick this album up. It's not hard to see Adrenaline Rush becoming the next big thing in European melodic rock.
