Notes
We met Andrew Oliver at the Linda Hall Library of Science and Technology in Kansas City. He was one of the few black folks working there in the early 2000's, and he was probably the only self described "homeless" person working there ever. He lived on the streets in Westport, and was a good deal older than us. We were 20 and he was 40. We became close friends based on mutual interests such as extreme music and intense people. He was an intense and powerful singer, and we started playing music, and formed this band, Ring of Skulls. He played bass and sang, until he was stabbed severely in his forearm. His lyrics are wrought from the harshest and most difficult human experiences. He had a deathwish for the entire duration of our friendship, and playing music together always seemed like meadows of light in his dark final days. We recorded this in a duplex at 70th and Troost in KC in 2001, in one summer afternoon, as Murderer Dave passed us the meat and vodka.
