Songs for the album were recorded in Detroit, at Hitsville (Studio A) with horns and strings overdubbed at Golden World (Studio B), from July 1968 throught the first week of April 1969. Everlasting Love was first tracked for the Four Tops in early February 1968; they did not record vocals and the tune was re-assigned to Ruffin and overdubbed by him in March 1969.
