A tribute compilation to Tom Rapp, and his band, Pearls Before Swine.

Not really a fan of tribute albums that became manifold in the 1980s onwards. I don't get the point of them - rarely do cover versions approach the quality of the originals. There's been isolated good ones but generally I avoid them. However - this one (and volume 1 which came out in 1997) are really rather good. Some of the treatments are pretty psychedelic, being swamped in masses of echo and effects. The original songs are so strong they can bear many different interpretations.Given a choice I would always go for original Pearls Before Swine.... but I quite often listen to these compilations for variety.
