INDIE ROCK FROM number two guitar slinger of Chapel Hill's favorite sons (& daughter) band SUPERCHUNK. Jim Wilber grabs the mike up front and serves up some of the genre's best anecdotal observations about well, life, love and the pursuit of songwriting - melodically arranging killer sing-along choruses and hooky guitar bits to beat any band (including fellow Superchunker Mac M. and his latest Portastatic release.) "Death on the Cape" the album's opener - bounces and rolls along in a simple but effective riffed and even tempo'd melody that immediately grabs your attention and doesn't let go till the acoustic closer "When My Fingers Fall Off." "Nicotine" has one of my favorite lines so far this year: "now you tell me you've been seeing a doctor / cause you've been growing shorter every day / how could you love me when, you were 5 foot ten / and then at 5 foot 6 we should just be friends" A very impressive debut and promising beginning for Mr. Wilber.
