Notes
Since inception just three years ago, the Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra has enjoyed many successful concerts around the country. Concert tours have been our main incentive to progress musically, due to the overwhelming response and genuine appreciation shown by so many people wherever we play. This, our first L.P. is our way of saying "Thanks" for so many memorable concerts. The members of the orchestra (average age fifteen years), have enjoyed the experience of working in concert with such highly respected and sought after musicians as George Chisholm, Don Rendell, Danny Moss, Kenny Baker and others, all of whom have acknowledged and praised the outstanding talent of this modern young orchestra. In July of this year the orchestra was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award at the National Festival of Music for Youth (Jazz Orchestra Section) for the second year in succession, and in November will be making their third appearance at the Royal Albert Hall. We have been offered concert tours abroad, but these marvellous opportunities remain in your hands...
