nadness
This disc is excellent. It contains one of the best mixes of swing (with a little latin and jazz) I've heard in a long time. Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, and Sara Vaughan really shine on their tracks, and the rest of the artists are amazing as well. There is one track I don't enjoy so much, and that's John Coltrane's "Acknowledgement". I generally enjoy Coltrane, so I'm not sure if this track just falls flat compared to the others or whether it's actually a bad track. The instrumental portions are fine, but when they get into the vocal "A love so free" section, I just have to move on to the next track. All in all, this is an excellent collection, and I'm lucky to have picked it up for nothing.
