Marr
I love this record for many reasons -- the sublime harmonics on the Astrocat tracks, the Delta 9 "I was only 19 when I died" track that's one of the few non-gabber tracks he released early in his career, the spacey Drew Young techno/trance track that lets your mind wander. But I will always remember this record for "Aliens", which is a Yanu/Sam Haskin remix of the Dave Yanu track on Toolbox Tunes. I had the record for a while, but it really impacted me when I heard this in the middle of a rural Wisconsin cornfield by way of the fantastic DJ Adeptus, who was playing the opening set at some random forgettable party circa 1996 that got busted at about 11pm. Out there under the stars, driving into the darkness away from Madison with some scrawled mappoint directions, in the middle of the cornstalks that hovered at about 6-7 feet, it felt like something out of an X-Files episode, like we may have been able to communicate to the life beyond. Anyway, have always loved this track, and would love to hear it remastered someday.
