This CD is somewhat strange because its format cannot be put pigeonhole. "Best Of Brain Trax" & "Vol. 1" suggests a compilation. All 4 tracks are from the same artist, some of them are mixed, so it's more like an EP without saying it. Let's just agree that this is not an album, a single or a compilation whatsoever and I cut to the chase now... I would like to review the song(s) "Watch The Raveman" / "Ravemans Return". A real balancing act between the Trance and Rave genre. The very trance-like theme including this catchy melody joins a lovely, rave-like, inter-sequence and that is the reason why this CD made it in my collection. The instruments have been chosen carefully and harmonize very well in alternation between trance and rave. The boundaries between titles and lyrics are fluid as "See The Light Of The Universe" is actually the main line also in these two songs. Perhaps we should consider the first 3 songs as a story and the 4th as a bonus. A bit unfortunate that the CD seems quite unknown, although the 90s trance community is pretty large. Maybe they should have simply agreed on a title and a format to cut off better commercially. On the other hand, something "unique" emerged that was worth reviewing.
