Ielonere
I have an OG copy as well, and I can't really tell the difference between this and the other. The 7" is a cool addition, but only one track on it is actually "the first time on vinyl". I don't know why that was ever claimed, probably a typo? This release is currently listed as "Out of Stock" on the VMP website.
Gom
VMP edition album cover looks like a cheap color photocopy.
Vojar
My copy is perfect and flat. No complaints here.
Gaeuney
My copy sounds Perfect, zero problems with it, I'm totally happy with it!!
Na
The surface noise was added in the original master copies by the artist to give it a "vinyl" feel this might be what you are hearing even the mp4 has a surface noise sound/quality to it.
Kelenn
if this version has such bad quality, why are people asking up to £80 for it. I just bought the MOV version for £20 new. sound quality isn't bad so not really understanding the greed here.
Alexandra
I ended up with 3 copies and VMP refunded my money. The first 2 skipped. I haven't tried the 3rd yet, but their customer service is awesome.
Qiahmagha
Nothing wrong with my copy at all. In fact, it's probably the best recording I have of this album. I rip all my albums as well, and this one scored a DR14! So the dynamics of this particular album come out way above your standard hip-hop LP, which typically is walled around DR9-10. Quality control is another thing, and this seems to be the biggest VMP runs to date.
Nalmetus
My copy arrived warped beyond recognition, all 3 slabs. Have written to VMP on their wall and no reply. Bad start to a subscription, I'm out.
Nuadazius
Thanks for your useful albeit belated advice. And a happy new year to you. Hope you don't spend all of it abusing people on the web.
Hap
I am in constant email contact with them and they answer within hours, maybe you are a special asshole people don't like to waste time on. Consider yourself spared.
Amarin
You wrote on the wall? and a you complain they didn't answer? You ignored the customers service advice to contact them directly though the email service? I could go on but I see where the problem is here...
Abywis
Well, I did, and after 3 months they finally responded. I asked for a refund, which they acknowledged, and instead I received a notification of dispatch for a replacement a week later. Again, shifty. I don't like it.
Asyasya
It says right in the email they send you about your order to contact them at [email protected]. I had a warped record, they responded in a couple of hours. Really hard.
Porgisk
I had an issue with receiving a record scratched. I contacted them through their webpage and they emailed me back, and sent a brand new copy. They're actually pretty legit, so not sure why you're having issues. Try scrolling to the bottom of their website (without logging in with your member info). There are links to information that could help you.
Mavegelv
I looked on their website for a contact page or an address in their FAQ but didn't find one. They provide a shit service and make it hard to contact them. Spare me.
Tisicai
Perhaps writing to them directly instead of social media might be a better way to get a response. Do some work.
Sennnel
anyone know what's the best sounding version of this record? Sucks to hear this one is not so good.
Fhois
2 of the 3 tracks on the 7" have been released on vinyl before. The commercial release for Fu-Gee-La.https://www.discogs.com/Fugees-Refugee-Camp-Fu-Gee-La/release/104863
Ferri - My name
Did anyone have warps in their records? My disc 1 has a pretty mean warp. Playback seems fine but the record is definitely taking my tonearm for a ride..
Quynaus
Yeah, both of mine were in bad shape - a big bump on the gold side and the black side seemed to be really thin (to where the edge of the record was almost sharp). If you got yours from VMP they will send you another copy. My replacement was great!
Moogugore
Yep, disc one is warped quite badly. Haven't put on disc 2 yet.
Ximinon
The 7" is labeled side 5 and side 6, respectively
Scoreboard Bleeding
I'am a member of VMP and they always have had great pressings so I was excited to get my fugees record since I'm such a huge fan of them. I played it today and was bummed to hear noticeable surface noise through out the entire album. Not sure its just my copy so I can't speak for all but it sounds pretty bad. I wouldn't purchase this version. Some parts are super loud with surface noise, almost embarrassing to play for company.Other parts the surface noise is tolerable. None the less there is noise thought the entire album whether it be minimal or major. album is a 10 but the vinyl pressing is a 4 at best.
Umsida
This album was recorded to make it sound like an old record, the surface noise you complain about is actually in the master recordings, this is actually the best version of this album I've heard, my copy arrived in great shape and it sounds amazing.
ALAN
There's a note on the packaging with the cocktail and album notes that this record came in: **PLEASE NOTE: You may notice what might be considered surface noise throughout this record. It is something that is a part of the original masters and is intentional (ironically).Whether it actually sounds good is a matter of preference and could probably be discussed ad infinitum, but I do believe it is intentional and the pressing is not to blame.EDIT: Whoops, I guess discogs hides replies by default and I didn't see all of the others. Apologies for repeating what others said.
Shakataxe
There is some intentional pops and crackles added by the artists if it's that what you mean
Bumand
I don't know if you got one, but my copy came with a not that said the surface noise was an intended part of the mastering. I'm sure some of the samples contributed, as well.EDIT: Didn't see all the other replies. My bad.
Zamo
Good to know that VMP will replace it. Sucks that you got a poor pressing. Hope that replacement copy works out for you.
caster
Found that it was quite noisy on first play. Ran it through a RCM and now sounds great
